This attractive California Mercedes-Benz 280 SE has over 30K in repairs and restoration. Although difficult to find, original equipment (new and used) was found. Here are some of the repairs performed:

Engine:Rebuilt fuel injection pump Many of the pressure hoses (and the appropriate clamps) were replaced New gas tank New spark plug wiring Replaced battery bracket Updated air conditioner compressor Replaced the brake “booster” pump Transmission was completely rebuilt



Interior: New front seats (OEM) New carpet is the short weave German carpet found in the 230/280 SL’s of the same year. This carpet is more durable than the velour type it originally came with All wood trim was removed and refurbished The clock was replaced (OEM) Cigarette lighter was replaced and works (OEM) The heater/defroster work well and the plastic control levers are in good shape The vehicle did not come with a radio but a working Becker was located. I’m not 100% sure if it’s the original but it works fine. A new speaker in the dash is needed The head liner was replaced The original “Kulmeister” AC unit was located and installed (OEM..very expensive) All door and window seals were replaced (OEM) New front windshield and rear window seals installed (OEM) New trunk seal installed (OEM) The front windshield was replaced (OEM). Although used, it’s in good condition



Exterior:Fresh paint Some of the chrome bumperettes (small bumpers located above the main bumper) were replaced One taillight was replaced (OEM) New taillight seals (OEM) The sunroof was completely rebuilt The undercarriage is in overall good condition
